Propeller Pumps in general (such as these Seio and Perfect Pumps) provide a much "Softer" water flow rather than the more harsh and directed flow of traditional Power Head Water Pumps.
The Seio in particular has a nice spread of the water volume so as to provide good circulation without strong streams of underwater current; this is particularly desirable in planted freshwater (even more so Amazon River set ups) and reef saltwater aquariums.
This said, Propeller pumps are not for everyone as these have almost no head pressure and are not meant for running attachments or pumping water outside of your aquarium. As well there are times you may need or desire the more directed current of a traditional power head water pump.
